Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!

We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Each turkey feather represents one thing we are thankful for in our lives!

Brainstorming things to be thankful for

We created a "Gallery of Gratitude" to show how "Life is Good" for each of us.

Henry and Mudge

 We love Henry and Mudge

This early chapter book series is written by Cynthia Rylant.

Students have been very excited to read the books in our class, and if you are looking for a great chapter book to explore at home, this is the perfect choice! Students have used this series to explore story structure, character traits, and summary format, including a beginning, middle, and ending.

Who doesn't love a story about a boy and his dog?

Just a sampling of our Henry and Mudge books!

A dog dish summary of Henry and Mudge The Cold Shivers.
We had fun with our character traits directed drawings!
We love the suspicious look of Mudge on the right!

Meet Our Class!

Each day we begin with a Morning Meeting.

During this time, students greet one another, read a morning message, share about themselves, or participate in a short activity. It's a wonderful way to start the day!

So far, we have learned how to say hello in three languages!

From all of us we say...

"Aloha!"

"Bonjour!"

"Hola!"

Our Classroom Community

We have been learning about what it means to be a good citizen.

Our classroom community thrives on caring for our classroom environment and one another.

Here are our "Be Rules" that we think will help us keep our classroom a "Be"autiful place to learn.

1.  Be kind.

2. Be a helper.

3. Be a worker.

4. Be a whole body listener.

5. Be safe.

We came up with 5 rules based on a class discussion about the kind of classroom we want to have.

Second Graders at Work

Here is a peek into our day!

Students spent some time buddy reading, creating "apps" about themselves,
and moved around a bit with Maximo on Go Noodle.

Library books were selected during Library with Mrs. Moore, and should have come home in backpacks this afternoon.

It was another fantastic day in second grade!

Welcome!

Welcome to second grade!

It was an exciting day in Room 210!

Students spent the day getting to know one another, and learned about new classroom routines.

I look forward to meeting with you on Monday, September 19 at 6pm for Second Grade Open House!

Until then, check this blog for frequent updates and classroom happenings.

Back to School

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th.

You will receive some special mail from me within the next few weeks.

Included, you will find some important first day of school information.

Until then, enjoy every last second of summer!

Play with friends, spend time outdoors, and find some time to read a great book (or two)!

It was wonderful to meet you on Step Up Day, and I can't wait to see you in September!
