Quick Changes to Earth's Surface

This week, student groups each made a model of a volcano. They made predictions about what would happen when the volcano erupts. Where would the lava go? Would the size of the crater make a difference?

                   They had a "blast"!

Scientists at Work

Today, students carried out an investigation to explore how we can change rocks. They made predictions, recorded data based on their observations, and drew conclusions after discussing results.

They had a blast shaking the jars full or rocks, chalk and water!

Halloween Take Two!

Even though our Halloween fun was delayed by a day, students enjoyed some special treats and activities upon returning to school on Wednesday. Thank you very much to families who helped out with snacks and were able to join us in the classroom! It was a fun afternoon, complete with costumes!

Audubon Adventures

Students enjoyed their first Audubon field experience last Friday. We had a beautiful fall day, which made exploring the habitats fun for everyone. Catching grasshoppers and crickets, hiking through the woods, and listening to the birds reminded us of how much beauty there is right in our own backyard. Thank you to those parents who joined us as chaperones!

Getting to Know You!

Second graders have been busy getting to know one another!

 Learning to work together as a team, helping one another learn from our mistakes, and respecting different learning styles are just a few of the goals we've set over the past few weeks.
