The Butterfly Place

Field Trip Review

by Avery, Gabby, Carly, Jessey, and Juliana

We had lots of fun on our field trip to The Butterfly Place yesterday!

We saw lots of beautiful butterflies.

A butterfly landed on Carly and some other kids too!

We even saw the largest moth in the world from Asia.

There were also some birds that couldn't fly, and we named them.

The butterfly habitat was very hot and steamy.

Some butterflies were eating fruit instead of nectar.

We had an exciting time at The Butterfly Place, and we hope we can go back again!

From Caterpillar to Butterfly

Students are learning all about the life cycles of butterflies!

Our caterpillars have growth inch by inch, and are getting closer to becoming butterflies each day.

Boys and girls have been observing and measuring our caterpillars, then recording the data in their caterpillar journals. We can't believe how quickly they are growing! In a few days the caterpillars will begin their metamorphosis inside their chrysalides.

Stayed tuned for an update!

Our field trip to  The Butterfly Place this Wednesday is going to be lots of fun!

Mastery Club Challenge

Are you up for a challenge?

Do you love to learn about new things?

If your answer is yes, then The Mastery Club Challenge is for you!

Students who are up for this exciting project will use books or this link to find the answer to lots of interesting questions.
Answers will be written in their Mastery Club Notebook, and certificates will be awarded to those who have "mastered" these topics.

Our class has been reading a lot of nonfiction text these days, so this is a fun way to read and do a little research along the way!

6th Grade Buddies

We had so much fun meeting our sixth grade buddies from Ms. Boyle's 6th grade class at Spofford Pond! As part of our life cycles unit, our class is working with sixth graders as they hatch chicks in their classroom! We can't wait to see the cute chicks in a few weeks!

Thank you to BEST for making this project possible!

Check out Ms. Boyle's blog to get updates! The eggs take 21 days to hatch, and we are on day 8!
